Remember Superman? He could travel at the speed of light. Or faster.
He was the first superhero I remember and we all watched him on Saturday morning TV. Yes, that was before cable and yes, color too!
Anyway, back to that speed of light thing. This morning I was watching the weather channel for hurricane updates and the announcer was telling people, if it gets bad in their area, the best place to find out what’s going on is (you guessed it!) Twitter!
The times, they are a changin’.
It hasn’t been that long ago that nobody had heard the words tweet, retweet, or hashtag. And now, a national weather channel is saying go to Twitter updates?
Of course, if you are an online marketer, you know the value of Twitter. People are “in the moment.” That means, they are right there having conversations as things are happening.
This is good news!
Do you want instant feedback on a blog post? a new product? a product launch? Twitter just might be your choice of social media platform! You can almost think of Twitter as one big chat room. People are talking about everything!
Get on the bandwagon. . . . .
If you’re not on Twitter yet, get going. It’s a quick and easy sign up. Need help? Download a copy of my Best Tweet Tips and you’ll be on your way.
Are you a seasoned Twitter?
Here’s some tools you might like to try and help your account achieve Superman (or I guess to be politically correct I should say Superlady too!) status:
Social Oomph – This is a great tool if you want to automate any part of your Twitter greeting, your status, or check out who is following or not following you. Just don’t get carried away on the automated status updates, and you’ll find it a helpful tool.
Twello – A nice place to find people in your niche. Think of it kinda like the yellow pages. Remember them?
Speaking of Twitter Tips . . . .
On my Facebook Page (Martha’s Page), I post a social media tip daily. You can bet, there are plenty of Twitter tips to be found!
Tweetmeme Button – If you have a wordpress blog, this little button can help you spread the word about your blog posts. It gives a convenient way for your readers to tweet to Twitter your blog post link.
Twitter is many things to many people but right now, it’s definitely Superman. Information can fly at the speed of light!
I know you want to be part of that!
Get out there and Twitter!
