If you have a business up-and-running (or at least a website) and you are not at least thinking about diving into the social network scene, shame on you!
Is it here to stay? Who knows? But I do know this: All major businesses are using it and since success leaves clues, I would suggest you learn how to use it too.
It’s really fun. It’s yet another way to promote or advertise your business or products FOR FREE! (at least for now)
At first glance, both sights may not make much sense. People writing a few lines about what time their flights leave, what they had for breakfast, something they just watched on TV, etc.
Take a closer look.
You will also see Realtors telling you where their new listings are, restaurant owners telling you the special for the day, and people typing LINKS to sites they find interesting. That should peak your interest. If you own a site. L-I-N-K-S are other people’s lifeline to your sites! As in http://thinkandmotivate.com (a link to my motivational blog)
Now, are you starting to get it? The more people you are connected with, the more people you have an opportunity to send your link out to.
Now, it’s called “social networking” for a reason. There IS a social aspect to it. Think of it like this: You would never walk into a dinner party or a room full of people and first thing out of your mouth comes “Here’s my product. . . want some?” Of course not.
Same with Twitter and Facebook. Take your time, start a slow conversation, and build on that.
There are plenty of folks out there talking about your industry or business. Join in. They are your potential customers.
Also, if you already have a customer base, be sure they know they can connect with you online. You might want to add your twitter and facebook accounts to your signature or your business cards. It works. More and more people are connected. One connection leads to another and on and on it goes.
Have fun with it. Promote your business!
