Everyone wants their products noticed. Well, not just noticed but to be a household name.
There are the usual. Coke. Microsoft. Nike.
Those brands are sticky. You recognize them immediately. Why?
And, a truckload of money, you say?
OK, so your pockets are not as deep as the Apple’s of the world. But, here’s the thing. The playing field has become much more level due to the internet.
You may not have the big bucks of the big boys to play in their game, but you can get the word out about your website all over the net. And, for the most part, free. Sound good?
Social networking is key!
They say a person has to see an ad something like six times before they remember it. Soooo, tweeting about your business once, twice, three times isn’t gonna cut it!
Now, I’ve told you before and it bears repeating. Do NOT let every tweet or status update be about your promotion. Engage. Converse. Be real. And intertwine your promotions with your conversations. Over and over and over.
Decide on a logo (or, if you are branding yourself, a picture!) and use it over and over and over.
Not only do you need to be repeating your message (and here again, it’s not just with words, but with the visuals, logos, and such) but your message needs to be in as many places as there are people.
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, the forums, your business cards, your e-mail, you get the picture! Anywhere that people might look for you, they need to see your brand.
Your hope is that they will begin to know and love you AND that they will spread the word.
It’s in the spreading of the word that you become “sticky.” (As in, stuck all over the place and they can’t get away!) You want to be like the song that gets stuck in someone head and plays over and over.
So, get out there. Put your brand EVERYWHERE, talk to EVERYBODY, and ask them to TELL THEIR FRIENDS!
It’s promotion. Pure and simple.
Now, go get sticky!
p.s. Just double checking — did I say “over and over” enough times?
