For some reason, I thought this was obvious. But, I’m learning that for many bloggers, it’s not.

OK, so here’s the deal . . .

If you want readers and desire to build an audience, how can that possibly happen without some marketing involved?

I know.  You just want to write.  Just want to let your creative juices flow like crazy through your written words.  Good.  Fun.  Fine.

But what’s the POINT?

Unless you are logging in to write nothing more than an online journal, my guess is you want readers.  And the more the merrier, right?

So. . . . MARKET!

Yes, that means get a strategy.  And THAT means clarify your goals.  And THAT means make a plan to make it all happen.

Surprise!

While marketing may not be your “thang,” there are plenty of ways to let folks know where to find you.  Social media comes to mind.  Make sure you post your blog links where your audience plays.

No matter what niche your blog falls into, you have to be proactive when it comes to spreading the word about what you blog about.

And don’t be shy about asking others to help you. Ask your readers to share your posts and make it easy by having social sharing buttons handy.

Also, be willing to use services that can help.

Two of my favorites are:  Social Buzz Club and Triberr.  Both are created to help bloggers get their content shared.  The only catch is you have to share other people’s post.  Of course, I don’t consider that a catch really, but a privilege to participate in the blogging community!

Think of it this way . . .

Your blog posts are your calling card.   It’s important to let people know where they can easily locate them!

Now, you’ve got some decisions to make.  First, get clear about WHY you are blogging in the first place. Then, clarify what results you are looking for.  And finally, last but not least, draw up a marketing plan to bring those desired results into reality.
