The new RockMelt social browser came out this week and I’ve been using it for two days. So far, so good.
If you love social media, (and who doesn’t?) you’ll really enjoy this browser. RockMelt easily integrates with my social networks so I don’t have to spend my time switching back and forth between Twitter and Facebook.
It has a very clean interface and that’s important to me because, in my book, the simpler the better! I’ve been using Google Chrome for a while for that very reason.
You must have a Facebook account.
The only drawback I can see (certainly not for me), is it only works if you have a Facebook account. Having said that, if you don’t have a Facebook account, I have to ask why? If you’re doing business and want to succeed, you must interact through social media. (See: Social Media May Not Be What You Think)
After logging in to RockMelt, using your Facebook account, your profile picture will come up in the left hand corner and your favorite Facebook friends will be displayed down the left hand pane. On the right, you can add your favorite websites. They will update as new info is posted.
Social means sharing.
How many times have you wanted to share something with your connections and it wasn’t exactly easy? (OK, copy and paste is easy but some still don’t “get” it!) At the top of the RockMelt brower, there is a big share button. How easy is THAT?
Don’t want to stay social?
When using RockMelt, you don’t have to stay connected to the social networks. Just log out and it converts to a regular browser.
All in all, my two day experience has been fantastic and I’m liking RockMelt. And yes, I think the name is cool too!
One more observation. . . .
RockMelt tells you on the front end that they are new, there will be some glitches, and they will get them corrected as soon as possible. Keep this in mind.
It’s by invitation only at this point but not to fear, you can make a request here: RockMelt.com
Happy surfing and sharing!
