Do you know people who profess to have an online biz and are tweeting, blogging, writing articles, constantly updating their website but producing zero income? Do they have a list of “followers” but not a list of “customers?” I call that “playing” at having a business. They are spending time on the internet but not working their business.
In the first place, they really have no business.
In the second place, they really have no business.
But they are busy, busy, busy!
If you are using blogging, social networking, and updating your website as the means to ultimately get customers in the door to buy your products and IF this activity produces sales, then you have a business. A real, pay-the-bills kind of business!
Here’s an example from the real estate world: You’ve all seen the real estate agent who has their picture plastered on billboards, their business cards in everybody’s hand, and attends every single networking function known to man. That’s all fine and dandy but until that agent sells a house, she has no business! See what I mean? Just “being out there” isn’t a business. Selling something is.
Same with your online biz!
Even if you are just starting out and working it part-time, in the end, in order to have a business, you have to sell a product or a service and bring in profits. You can use online avenues such as an e-commerce store, an e-bay gig, or selling affiliate products. In the end, the point of the whole matter is to make a dollar. The bottom line is the bottom line!
There are many folks out there “playing” on the internet. They have a website or are blogging and call that a “business.” You know the difference. Now, go out there and be an online biz success!
