Any perfectionists out there?
If so, and you are an online business owner, you have to give it up. It just won’t work.
How many of you know people who are still trying to get their website up? Still working on their first product? Still tweaking that e-book?
Why oh why?
Because they are wanting perfection. Guess what? It’s never going to happen. You can keep trying to reach perfection and use up your precious time til the cows come home!
“Good enough” will have to do. Besides, it WORKS!
Last night, I conducted my first webinar for the Tweet With Martha series. Was I ready? I thought so. My content was full to the brim and I was working from a well-thought-out outline.
The truth is, it wasn’t perfect. Not even close.
I was trying to be comfortable with the sheer technical aspect of running the webinar on top of speaking to a group of people I couldn’t see or hear on top of teaching the subject matter for the first time in that venue.
Don’t get me wrong.
It was definitely challenging. But good. Not perfect. But good.
You see, that’s what this business is all about. We have to try all sorts of ways to get our products and our message to our audience. I remember well when blogging seemed like a huge mountain to climb. When creating a product seemed insurmountable. When tech issues could destroy my confidence. (OK. That one still happens!)
Just do it!
Stop striving for everything to be perfect. It won’t ever be. Perfection is over-rated. Accept that and move forward.
This business is so much fun and one of the reasons is because there is such variety surrounding all we do. I enjoy every single day of it. That happened when I decided to give up perfection.
Won’t you join me?
