If you are easily distracted, having an online business can be somewhat of a challenge. Distractions abound on the net!
BEWARE THESE PITFALLS:
Reading E-Mails. Sounds harmless enough but can lead to lots of unproductive time. You need to scan through them quickly. If you see something that is urgent, read it. I would like to say delete everything else because the problem seems to be that you THINK you will go back and read them and you don’t. Trust me, I know. If you have ever found yourself with over 1000 emails staring you in the face, it can be daunting.
E-mails do tend to pile up. You need a system for dealing with them. At the very least, file them away. Get off so many lists. The fact is, we are all receiving way too much junk. Unsubscribe to anything that’s not enhancing your business or your day!
Social networking. Of course, you have to do it. You like to do it. Maybe you like it alot! That’s where the problems come in. How many of you have gone over to Twitter to promote a product and ended up spending way too much time reading and interacting? If you are not careful, 1 hour of social networking can turn into 3 or 4.
Surfing the net. We are all information junkies. Limit yourself. I mean, really, do you have to stop in the middle of your day to read the latest on Lady Gaga? Thought not.
Games. I’m adding this because I see it as becoming a problem, especially over on Facebook. Tip: Never, ever, play any of the FB games during working hours. Probably some of you should never play them at all! (you know who you are!)
If you’re not careful, these time guzzlers will suck the daylight out of your day! Don’t be fooled into thinking you are “working” just because you are sitting in front of your computer. Be aware of how you are spending your time.
You know what to do. Get out there and do it!
