My favorite part of having an online business? The internet goes 24/7. My products and services are on the market and going strong no matter the hour or the day.
Yes, I work regular (somewhat) hours, but I do find time to rest and you should too. Just because the biz keeps on churning, doesn’t mean you don’t need to take some offline time to stop and smell the roses.
Find your routine!
Just like life itself has a regular rhythm, your business life does too. It’s important to take regular intervals of off time to get refreshed, let your mind slow down, and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
My rest day is always Sunday. It’s a lifelong habit cultivated during my childhood that still serves me well. I think it’s important for all people to take at least one day off but when you run your own business, you are in the unique position of deciding if and when you take time off.
That’s one of the pluses of being your own boss!
On the flip side, it’s easy to “just read my e-mail” or “just check my overnight sales” or “just leave a couple of Twitter posts” and this is fine. However, for many, that word “just” is ignored and they end up working all day long.
Sound like you?
If you can’t remember the last time you really got away from your business for a day, I encourage you to take the plunge. It’s good for you, for your family, and for your own mental health!
Believe me, I do understand wanting to “work” 24/7 because I totally love what I do and it never seems like work. However, there is evidence that this is not healthy or wise, so I encourage you to heed the warning.
Sunday is my day. I’m making the exception and posting on Sundays of this month only because I’m in the Ultimate Blog Challenge. It’s my choice.
Pick your day. . . .
Take at least one a week (or more!) and enjoy all the beauty in the world around you. You will thank yourself in the long run!
Have a great day!
