LinkedIn is the social media platform that serves as a fantastic place to network with others and grow your online business.
What makes LinkedIn stand out in the crowd?
One word: Groups.
How much easier is it to network with people who actually are interested in your product or services? How great is it to find a gathering of other folks just waiting to network with you? LinkedIn groups is the place to find others in your niche to discuss issues pertaining to your industry OR to solidify your own expertise.
How to get started . . . .
After joining LinkedIn, you can go to LinkedIn Groups and do a quick search to find people in your target market or folks within your niche that you might want to connect with.
When you are first starting out or if you are a little shy about jumping head first into a group, why not begin with your alumni group? Chances are, you’ll see a couple of familiar faces and the whole thing won’t seem quite as daunting.
Because LinkedIn is considered more of a network for professionals, it is quite alright and actually the norm to ask others to introduce you to others in their network.
I’m in the group, now what?
Once inside a group, you have several directions you can go. You can get a quick list of all members in the group by clicking on the “members” tab at the top. I suggest you look at that list, read their profiles and then make the decision if you would like to connect with them. Simply send them an inbox note, telling them you are in the same group and would enjoy networking with them.
Want expert status?
Participation is the key here. Leave links to your content-filled blog posts, join in the conversations already going on, instigate your own conversations, be willing to answer questions, promote other member’s links, etc. In short, become an integral part of the group.
As you continue to branch out, your profile will be seen more and more and people will begin to recognize you and your message.
Did I just type that? Most people don’t want their bodies to grow wider, but in business, you want taller AND wider. A sure-fire way to do that on LinkedIn is by starting your own group! Give people a place to congregate discussing issues that relate to your own special knowledge and you’ve just created a group of adoring fans. Need I say more?
I have to admit, I’ve been slower than most in the LinkedIn parade. I do participate in LOTS of groups but I haven’t yet started my own. Hang on, it’s on my list!
Bottom line is, for more online business growth, you need to be using LinkedIn.
The connections can prove to be invaluable!
