Want to make your business fly ? I’ve evaluated what worked and what didn’t for the past year and my finding is really no surprise. Social media. Social media. Social media.
Warning: This is one of those I-did-it-and-you-can-too kind of posts. It requires action. My hope is that you will find it inspiring and motivating and possibly a road map for your own success!
Blogging. . . . .
I’ll bet many of you don’t think of blogging as being social. Think again! Once you put that post out there, people start to comment and guess what? You have the start of a conversation! Isn’t that what being social is all about? Communication with others?
When writing your blog, always have your ideal reader in mind. Write to her. Or him. This will make your blog more personal to everyone who reads. Your hope is that all who read will feel like you are writing just to them.
Blog Challenges . . . . .
Want to be introduced to a wider community of bloggers? This is the way. I participated in four last year and I can tell you some of the bloggers became an invaluable, supportive group to me and my biz. It introduced me to the world of guest blogging and increased my network in ways that can’t be calculated.
If you doubt what I’m saying or need some motivation to get that blog active, there’s still time to sign up for the Ultimate Blog Challenge. Experience it for yourself!
Twitter. . . . .
I can’t say it enough. Twitter rocks when it comes to meeting, greeting and connecting! In the past year, Twitter has been directly and indirectly responsible for my becoming friends with other marketers that produced opportunities out the wazoo for me. Through Twitter, I have had access to people I would otherwise have NEVER met or had a conversation with. Needless to say, my biz grew from my Twitter use!
If you are still not quite sure how it all works and need some guidance, check out my Best Tweet Tips. They are free and give you a little hand-holding in the Twitter department!
Facebook. . . . .
This has become the darling of the social media gang. And rightly so. It’s still evolving and the potential is still unknown. My experience: Facebook has produced conversations with people from all over the world for me. I am able to promote my products, my sites, and give folks a glimpse into my private life (yes, they like knowing I’m irritated at my cell phone, having a marshmallow sandwich, or looking around for my misplaced diet coke!)
Facebook is a happening place. You’ve all heard by now that it is searched more than Google. Enough said. That’s where the people are so that’s where you need to be hanging out too!
Your business can soar in 2011 just by being a little social. Or mega social. Whichever you prefer. We humans are a social bunch and you can’t fight it. Take the time (and I don’t mean the whole day) to use social media with a focus on getting your message out. A few updates a day does the trick.
Engage. That is the key. The more you connect with people, the higher you will fly. The higher you fly, the more visibility you have. And we all know what that means! Business growth. Pure and simple!
Now, go out there and get social!
