Having a home-based biz can be a challenge.
First, there is the challenge of distractions. You know the kind. Your neighbor wants to spend time chit chatting, your grocery list looks enticing, or Oprah’s on. The pile of laundry can even distract some. (this has yet to occur in my home!)
If you are a business person worth their weight, you have figured out how to handle these temptations. After all, if you don’t actually work and produce, that home office is pretty irrelevant!
But there’s another challenge, that’s even harder, I think, and that is taking off that work hat and taking a break. When you work from home and you have a real passion for what you’re doing, it’s so easy to work all the time.
Because your office is at the house, it’s sometimes very difficult to shut it down. To take the necessary breaks we need to stay creative and focused. In fact, many of us are guilty of working all day and all night when the creativity starts to flow!
Breaks are necessary!
Even though we may think we are being oh-so-productive by keeping the long hours, I’m not so convinced.
This is just a post to remind all my fellow work-at-homers to stop and smell the roses. Take a few breaks during the working hours and put the pencil down at night. Shut the office door and step away from the computer for a while.
Go ahead. Take a break. It’s OK. Really, it is.
