Finding The Real Gold In Your Online Business

This is a post about gold-mining in your online biz.  I have to warn you.  It requires action on your part.

How many of you have spent hours and hours building your list?  You know the one.  The list of people interested in what you have to say.  What you have to offer.

When I started internet marketing, I heard over and over, “the gold is in the list.”  What was meant was the size of your paycheck was tied into the size of your list.  Or the quality of your list.  Either way, it was all about the list.

What the list really is. . . . . .

The list is nothing more than people who are interested in your business.  They have opted onto your list because you had a compelling free offer.  They agreed to give you their e-mail address because you offered something of value that they needed or wanted.  It is the start of a relationship where you give and they receive.

I was talking to a marketing guru the other day and was told that some of her students NEVER followed up after someone opted onto their list.  Never sent a subsequent e-mail.  Never sent a subsequent offer.  Nothing.  No contact. At. All.


All the social media, blogging, tweaking of your website, etc. doesn’t add up to a hill of beans if you don’t communicate privately with your list.  Those are your prospects.  They are the people you help.  They are the ones you solve problems for.  Your list is your future income.  Period.

The gold is in the follow-up!

Convincing folks they need to receive e-mails, newsletters, and updates from you is just the first aspect of creating an income-producing business.  The money is in the follow-up!  You have to continue communication and have relevant offers that they need and want in order to sustain what you are trying to accomplish:  Profits!

I used to see this all the time in the real estate business.  The new agent would talk with a prospect about a home, find out everything they wanted and needed, only to drop the ball by never following up!  Never making that next phone call to offer them that perfect property they were looking for.  I guess they were waiting on the prospect to call them back!  Not gonna happen.

Same is true for your online biz!

Instead of a phone call, your prospects are an e-mail away.  They opted into your list.  They want what you’re offering.  Don’t drop the ball.  Begin the conversation.  Send periodic e-mails and offers.  Free and otherwise.  Give them that extra special treatment they deserve.

Want to make the next year better and bigger than the last?  Continue to build your list and remember where the real gold is!
