Expert bloggers use their blog to increase business and credibility. The way they do it may surprise you!
If you’ve surfed the net at all, you’ve seen all types of blogs. There are pretty ones, smart ones, funny ones and downright what-were-they-thinking ones!
We’ve all seen the journal/diary blog where the writer takes us on their self-indulgent daily adventure. These can be engaging and gather readers but they usually don’t lead to profits. (I say “usually” because the really clever ones are doing exactly what will be discussed below and making a killing!)
Here’s the difference. . . . .
Focus. The journal or diary blogs are totally different from the money-making business blogs because of focus. Oh, they may have a few items to sell on those sites, but the main focus is just ramblings about their day. The items for sale are like an afterthought. You can almost hear them saying, “I’m blogging and I’ve heard you can make money with this, so here’s a product, let’s see!”
Not the focus of an expert make-money-online blog. Those blogs give relevant content, yes some even take people on a journey, however, the focus is to compel the reader to get on their list.
That’s where the action is!
The list consists of regular recipients of your offers through e-mails or newsletters. It’s fine to sprinkle snippets of your life throughout your blog. In fact, it’s encouraged. You want people to get to know you. However, if the goal is to make money, you can only be successful with that if you can consistently send offers to people who want to receive them!
What your blog really is. . . . . . .
Your blog is an instrument you use to build the relationship. The list is your engaged audience. That’s where the offers take place. Where the selling goes on. It’s the cultivation of a different relationship. A deeper, more meaningful one, if you will. (I know. The word “courtship” is coming into my mind too!)
Here’s the difference. . . . . . .
You are corresponding with your list on a daily, semi-weekly, or weekly basis. You are genuinely interested in helping your list so you are looking for products that will help them. They find this to be true – your honesty shines through and you always keep your focus on helping your subscribers. The money naturally follows.
See how it works?
You are helping people on a more intimate level through your e-mails. You are getting to know them better. Doesn’t matter which niche. You have a crafting blog? Bring your subscribers items that make crafting easier and more fun. Golf? Offer them products that help improve their game. Online marketing? Show products that shorten the learning curve. Make it easier.
Helping your customers is the name of the game.
Your blog is the public place where folks get a feeling for who you are and what your biz is all about. The e-mails are a more intimate conversation where you are giving distinct advice, informing about webinars, teleseminars, etc., and presenting relevant products.
Now, go out there and become an expert blogger AND an expert e-mailer.
You know where it leads!
