You might think these gestures expand your network and they DO but let’s talk about YOU extending the referrals and recommendations. That’s where the magic is!
My experience. . . .
Just this morning I had two phone messages. One from a TV station doing a piece on children and Facebook and the other from someone who had given my biz card to a business owner wanting to expand using social media.
Both of those are examples of referrals to me. The first one said she got my name from somone who had read my book, the second gave my name to a friend.
I would never have gotten those leads on my own. They came to me through people in my network! I call it my expanding circle!
Create your cycle of referrals!
How to create this situation for yourself?
Be quick to refer others. Always be willing to recommend products and services. On the internet, that’s never been easier. Be willing to share a link from a site you like, a product you use, or a book you’ve read. It’s as simple as that.
Building a network just for your own gain?
You see, the best networkers build their large circles by helping others. Yes, they receive benefits but that’s really not where their focus lies.
It’s the old “what goes around comes around” thing.
Are you wanting more comments on your blog? How about leaving some yourself on other blogs? Are you wanting your products recommended? How about tooting the horn of the last great product you used? Are you wanting someone to use your services? How about giving the nod to the people who you know do a good job?
It’s always about them.
Once you start spreading the word about others, they will turn around and spread the word about you.
It’s a beautiful thing!
