How many of you are still trying to run your business all by your little lonesome?
The fact is, you can’t do it all yourself and if you’re trying to, there’s a name for you.
Don’t be offended.
I’m one too. I admit it. I’ve had to learn to let certain tasks be done by others AND not keep putting my finger in the pie. Trust my own decision that I do surround myself with competent folks.
I know what’s coming next. . . .
But Martha, you say, I am building a new business. My capital is stretched. Actually, I hardly have any capital and I’m trying to get this biz up and running on a shoestring.
Hey, been there done that.
Here’s the solution. . . .
Find someone looking for what you do best who can swap their services for what you like to do least. Simple enough. Right?
You do have to figure out something first.
Know what you offer. You have to be clear about what you do best. Are you a tech wiz? An amazing article writer? How about a social media diva? Do you make a killer Facebook fan page? Are you a webinar guru?
Go ahead. Take inventory. You know what you’re good at. Write out a list.
Find your match!
Once you have your list of things you love to do, start looking for the other half of your coin. Team up with that person who loves to do the tasks you despise. It’s always a win/win!
Where to look?
One place you could start is in the comment section of this blog post. Something tells me the people who comment will let us know if they are looking for that special someone. Or, they will let us know where they found their teammate.
Here’s some other places that come to mind:
- Forums — If you go into the forums in your niche and ask around, you may find someone there.
- Other blogs — Pay attention to what others are saying. If they seem to be complaining about a certain task, jump in and ask if you can barter some services.
- Seminars or offline meetups — Don’t ever discount the “real” world! Sometimes your future partner can be sitting in front of you at a live event or even living right down the road!
- Social media — You knew I’d go there! I’ve found all kinds of people, from coaches to tech wizards to people who were excellent sources of resources. Just go put it out there. Say what you want and need. Chances are, someone will come to the rescue!
Remember this: You do have to ask!
Get over your need to control because I can assure you, it’s not serving you at all. Give it up and take your biz to the next level.
It works. I promise!
