I know we like to think people come to our blog because they like us, but the fact is, people usually find your blog because they are looking for specific content.
That’s what drives traffic, builds your list of customers and gets others to promote for you. Awesome, easy-to-understand, and information-filled content.
That’s spelled with a capital C!
The best content is made up of solutions. Solutions to problems that are unique to your niche. Unique to your readers. You feel their pain and solve it!
Where to look?
Where do you find the problems? Your readers will tell you. Look in your comments. Read what they are saying on Twitter. Do an unscientific poll of your Facebook friends. Sometimes, it just seems like it’s human nature to complain. Take advantage of that. Find the problems and create the solution.
You want your readers to come back. Some bloggers think if they have all the beautiful bells and whistles on their site, that will entice others to follow along. Not so. A flashing light can only entertain for so long!
You’re smarter than the average bear!
One of the easiest places to find content is from your own experiences. Found a product that you can’t live without? Blog about it! Have a website you read on a regular basis? Share the link and give a review. Your readers are interested in your subject matter. That’s why they come to your blog in the first place. Put your own spin on the information, make it a little sexier than the blog down the street and you’ve got a winner.
Your own experiences usually tend to be the most interesting. Why? Because you are passionate about them. Much of your content will be about subjects that you really are an expert on. Don’t doubt your own source of wisdom. Your very own brain!
My own experience. . . .
I blog alot about social media. I am passionate about it to the point of creating freebies (Best Tweet Tips) and offering to teach others how to use it (Tweet With Martha). I think social media is the cat’s meow and every time I find something new and exciting about, I bring it to my blog. It’s authentic content, I totally dig the subject matter, and that’s what makes it interesting!
Give yourself credit for being an authority in your niche. Write about what you know and care about. I promise, the content will be very well received!
