Anyone else feel like their blog needs a rest?
If you are running an online business and blogging your heart out most days, you know what I mean! Don’t get me wrong, I adore blogging, getting my message out and helping others. But, to do it day in and day out is tiring, taxing, and dare I say (yawn) threatens to get b-o-r-i-n-g??
Whaaaat?
Actually, the blog itself should never be boring. I pride myself in putting out fun and exiting info on a regular basis to help new entrepreneurs in their quest to have a profitable online business. I’m not light on topics, ok?
But. . . . .
I always want my blog to express my enthusiasm for the subject, my passion. Otherwise, what’s the point? It’s no fun for me OR my readers.
Sooooo. . . . . .
At least once a week (usually Sunday), I give my blog a rest!
Guess what?
That self-imposed rule has proved to be one of the best in my little blogging tool box. Why? Because I know ya’ll want fresh, exciting, crazy insane fun writing and for me, that happens if I give myself and this blog a well-deserved weekly rest.
OK, I broke the rule today.
But just this once.
Peace,
Martha
p.s. Give yourself permission to slow down once in a while. It’s good for you and good for your blog!

I used to have a post a day for one of my blogs but now that I’m up to 5 I realized that was an unrealistic proposition, especially with all the other writing I do. So yes, take those rest days when you need; people will be there when you come back.

You are perfectly right that you need a break from blogging from time to time! A blog-off day, an email-off day, a computer-off day, those are the most wonderful ways to renew and recharge so you can come back

I don’t think that anyone should feel guilty about not updating his/her blog recently, hey, it is your blog, you get to decide when and what to post. You are in charge of it! if you feel like slowing down a bit, then you should do it.

Hi Martha,
Good for you for allowing yourself to take a break when needed. I think the same is true not just of blogging but all writing endeavors. Creative energy needs to be replenished.
I admire and am in awe of bloggers who crank out a blog post daily. As a professional writer I’m so busy writing other people’s stuff that I have trouble getting to my own. I will turn to you for inspiration, Martha!

Martha, aloha. Blogs/bloggers do need a rest. When I first started blogging I posted everyday because I read that is what you are supposed to do for optimal results. Boy, did that get old fast.
Now, I post 3 times a weeks and, for me, that is a very nice schedule. In fact, it works so well that sometimes I like an article so much I am tempted to post it early, however, I do wait for the “right” day for it.
Martha, this is an invaluable tip you are giving to bloggers.
Best wishes for a terrific week ahead. Until next time, aloha. Janet

No need to feel guilty. Blogging is what blogging is. Each blogger is different.
I needed to read this today. Thank you! I havent updated in a week and been feeling guilty (is this the right word?). But in my case, midterms are the culprit!:(
