A provocative woman catches attention. And once she catches it, she can usually hold on to it and command more!
Does any of that sound like what you want your blog to do? Catch attention, hold on to it, and command more?
Here’s a few pointers you might want to think about.
- Is your tagline on point? Do people know in a glance what your site is all about? If you have entered the world of online marketing, it seems like a MAZE, and you’re not sure where to turn, would my above tagline reach out to you?
- Does your freebie suggest, “This is interesting, You know you want it?” My own blog is designed to help people succeed online. They want to make money and blogging is one of the ways that’s possible. Do you think How To Be A Profitable Blogger meets that criteria and draws attention?
- Are your sidebar banners eye-catching? I’ll qualify this one. Eye candy is good, but “helpful and relevant” makes it sing! The Aweber banner on my sidebar is a nice example. The banner itself is flashing so that’s pretty cool, and readers who want to make money online will find the e-mail marketing program beneficial. That banner can stand up and be counted!
- Are you guiding your readers to the goodies? Sometimes, just having pretty tabs isn’t enough. You have to actually tell your audience where the gems are periodically in your blog posts. For example: Need powerful resources? Click the Awesome Resources tab above! Or: Have you discovered the secrets in Be Social Be Rich yet? No? Then go click the above box! On occassion, it’s funto lead people around your site!
You have to “show them what you got” but in such a way as to be intriguing and compelling. That’s the beauty of a good blog. It’s not overbearing. It’s not confusing. It’s enticing without being too loud.
I know. The feminist in me is almost disgusted with my comparing my blog to a provocative lady. But, hey, you can be provocative in a good way!
You want your blog to be attractive, exciting, and inviting. Need I say more?
Now, get out there and strut your stuff!
