How do you decide what products to offer your customers? How do you decide what topics to write about that will keep your readers coming back for more?
It’s no secret. Your customers will tell you. If you ask.
Instead of operating your business in a bubble of your own making, and trying to figure out what to offer, where your customer’s interest is headed, why not learn to listen to what they are telling you?
Ask questions and pay attention to the answers.
There are several ways you can do this. Reading your own e-mail responses, looking for clues in your blog comments, and listening to what the social media audience is saying are all good information gatherers.
You can easily throw out a quick question on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn but if you are wanting answers to several questions at once, try surveying your audience.
Your customer can really give you great insights on why certain products worked or didn’t. They sometimes even suggest improvements that you might not have thought of because, let’s face it, you’re not exactly totally objective!
Once you establish conversation with your customers, take the time to listen to them.
You just might learn something!
